Te tiriti o waitangi

Last week we were watching a video about Te Tiriti o Waitangi and now I am going to explain about what we learnt. The Maori population in the 1830s was between 70-80,000. The two main reasons why the Maori population died down was because of war and diseases. The problem with the treaty was that it was rushed and the Maori and British versions said different things. So they thought wrong they had their own side of thinking. When I was watching the video we found out what the meaning of rangatiratanga. It means chiefly authority or self- government. The rangatira who signed the treaty there were few numbers only 14 people sign the treaty. we also learnt the meaning of kawanatanga it means peace. hone heke was really frustrated he showed his frustration by cutting down 3 flags and starting a war. the Maori used different methods they used forts walls and trenches.

  1. Kia Ora Levi! You have recalled lots of great facts about Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Your sentence structure is good which makes your blog easy to read. Remember to start each sentence with a capital letter and use capitals for names.
There were actually 500 chiefs that signed the treaty. Initially 40 chiefs signed it at Waitangi and then it travelled around New Zealand for the rest of the signatures. Also, kawanatanga means governance.
Great facts about Hone Heke. He must have been very annoyed that the treaty didn't give his people peace and ownership of their land.
    Keep up the good work.
