Tane mahuta

Today in Tane Mahuta (C.I.P) we went down to the garden to clean up all of the weeds and we also cleaned up the garden classroom for period two when I went down to the garden I went straight to cleaning up the classroom. when I started cleaning up the garden area I wanted to go straight to cleaning up the area with all of the ivy and trees we worked there for a while we cleaned it up and we also had time to grab the broom and sweep up all of the ivies that were left on the ground. When we headed back to the garden in period three we got back to what we were doing before I did get bored and tired so I did sit down on the wheely chairs but overall I had fun

Hurumanu - Renewable energy

Hurumanu - Renewable Energy

Aim: To make a solar-powered oven.

Materials: 

1. Pizza box
2. Scissors
3. Glad wrap
4. Tape
5. Newspaper
6. Straw
7. Marshmallow
8. Biscuit
9. Tinfoil
10. Vivid
11. Ruler
12. Black plastic

Steps:

1. Cut out the flap on the lid of the pizza box so that it is 5cm around the edge
2. Sellotape some tinfoil on the inside of the flap
3. Sellotape some glad wrap so that the hole you have cut on the pizza box lid is covered over with glad wrap
4. Get a square piece of black plastic and sellotape it in the inside of the bottom of the box
5. Get the newspaper and screw it up into a roll shape and make 4 so it is on each side inside the box. Get one of the newspaper rolls and put them inside the box on the side. Do the same with the other 3
6. Get a straw and put it onto one the flappy bit and on the glad wrap inside
7. Inside the newspaper, rolls grab a plastic plate and put it inside
8. Get your 3 biscuits and put inside
9. Get your 3 marshmallows and put on top of each biscuit
10. Make sure you write your name on it with vivid

1. Type: Hydro
2. Is it used in NZ? Yes it has
3. Other Countries that use it? Albania, Paraguay, Congo, Nepal, Namibia, Zambia, Tajikistan, Norway, Ethiopia, Kyrgyzstan
4. How is it used to generate electricity? Hydropower plants capture the energy of falling water to generate electricity. A turbine converts the kinetic energy of falling water into mechanical energy. Then a generator converts the mechanical energy from the turbine into electrical energy.
5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator? This can be done on paper and uploaded or on a drawing program on your device. I do not want any Internet images or pictures. They must be hand-drawn using a ruler and labelled.
